It's Labor Day Weekend and Armuchee Bluegrass Festival

In 1973, thirty six years ago, the first Armuchee Bluegrass Festival was held in a field with the electricity being provided by a generator. If you are interested in reading about the history of Armuchee Bluegrass Festival, Bill Brown wrote a about it on his Bluegrass Chronicles web site.

The internet is filled with bits and pieces of information about this festival over the years. I even found a 1974 article from the Rome News-Tribune. Since I've been at almost every festival these stories bring back lots of memories.

There are other blogs that have posts about Armuchee, if you'd like to see what they have to say. The 2.8 Project - Rome News-Tribune - Frugal Traveler (this is a video) - SEBA has a festival list too.

Of course I've written about it a few times as well too: May 24, 2009 ; August 28, 2008 ; May 27, 2008 ; May 25, 2008

If you are in the Rome, GA area drop by. You might start your own tradition.
