Little Hands

I love baby toes and hands. I always have and when the baby is my grandson, well I'm off the deep end.

It seems like our family and friends are in a baby boom. In the past year there have been at least eight little ones born. It reminds me of the year our son was born. There were four cousins born with in six months.

Anyway I babysat for our grandson one evening last week and managed to get a few pictures. One of them was of his sweet little hands. I love how those little pudgy fingers.

I hope everyone has a wonderful time with their family and friends during the Christmas season.

One Of My Favorite Things

It doesn't have to be Christmas season to think about my favorite things, but because it is December that song also comes to mind.

One of my favorite things is to spend time with our darling grandson. I am amazed how fast he is growing and learning. I love that little guy so much.

He is very inquisitive and loves paper

He is trying to talk and says mama and dada, but also seems to have his own language which he uses all the time.  It is so amusing to hear him chatter and try to determine what he is talking about.

He loves to explore his new toys and is perhaps already a budding musician.

His grandparents love him very much.

We have a busy day and I have to get going, but I wanted to share a few recent pictures.

Thankful? Yes I am!

Wow, this month has flown by.

I had fully intended to get back into blogging on a regular basis, but sometimes things don't work out as planned.

There were more lay-offs at work.  I still have a job and that makes me glad while being very sad for my co-workers that are facing an uncertain future of hunting for a job in this economy.  Needless to say my work days have been longer for these changes.

But God is good, and we have been able to spend time with our family over Thanksgiving and for this I am truly thankful.

When I feel down and start seeing the dark side of life, I've found it is always helpful for me to make a list of the things for which I am thankful.  That always puts things back into prospective.

My "I Am Thankful" list today is:
  • I have a job.
  • My health - while I have a few ailments I am able to work every day.
  • Freedom to attend the church of my choice and worship God freely.  I am feeling this is a very fragile right and pray that our nation doesn't loose sight of why America was founded.
  • The love of my husband of 35 years.  I look at our mothers, each living alone now, and cherish having my husband at my side.
  • A loving son, daughter-in-law and grandson.  I see families that don't get along and am thankful that we have a close loving relationship.
  • And I am most thankful for our darling grandson.  This is a year of many "firsts."  His first Thanksgiving. Soon it will be his first Christmas and shortly after that will be his first birthday.   I never understood how someone could say having grandchildren was better than having your own children.  Yet now I understand.  I know I love my son with all my heart, but that little grandson has found a place so deep inside my heart it amazes me.  I can't wait to begin the adventure of having the second grandchild next spring.
Yes, I am fortunate and thankful.  God has truly blessed me and I pray I stay aware of how precious these blessings are.

A Happy Boy

In His Beautiful Eyes

I know every grandparent thinks their grandchildren are the best, most beautiful on earth. I am no different.

I love this picture of our grandson. It was taken outside and you can see the trees, the light and even me as I took the picture, reflected in his eyes. It reminds me of the responsibility we have with children to live a life that can be reflected in theirs.

The Grandmom Gig

Our precious grandson is now seven months old and into everything. He is at the stage where everything goes into his mouth. Fingers, toes, toys if it's within reach he tries to put it in his mouth.

Everything is amazing to him. Like the sudden flash from the camera.
Wow!

I had the opportunity to babysit earlier in the week. I feed him his dinner and then we played on the floor until it was time for his bath.
I'm just too cute!

I love watching him trying to learn to control his body. Trying to crawl. Being so determined to succeed and discover everything in his world.

This grandmom gig is a hoot.

Yes, I'm loving being a grandmother and babysitting is a very nice perk!

Happy Fourth Of July

We had a wonderful time with our son and his family on the 4th.

They cooked out on the grill [yummy burgers, hot dogs and chicken!]

We played with our beautiful Grandson and had a wonderful time.

Were you speaking to me?

I LOVE this kid!!!!
I can't wait until I have teeth and can eat some of that yummy smelling food!

I hope your 4th of July was wonderful too.

I'm Smitten

I didn't think it could happen. I'm just too level headed.

But I can't help myself......

Sunday Lunch

Sunday's we usually have lunch with our son, daughter-in-law and grandson. This week we had the privilege of also having lunch with my mother-in-law. We were disappointed that my mom was unable to make it too. I love my family and love that sweet boy more every day.

He is almost five months old now and really developing a personality. I also think he is teething, as his fist, fingers or what ever is at hand goes into his mouth. I am amazed at how much of his fist he can cram into his little mouth.
Yummy Fist!

I love this one. It looks like he is asking a question. He is interested in everything and very inquisitive. I can foresee some fun times as he grows up.
What are you doing over there?

I was glad a friend was there to take a picture of four generations of our family. The picture is a bit over exposed, but I'll still treasure it.

Knock, Knock, Anyone Out There?

Well, it has been a while since I've put pen to paper, or more accurately fingers to keyboard and posted to my blog.

I could make lots of excuses, but truthfully, I've been busy and just haven't been inspired or even interested in blogging for a while. I've been more focused on spending as much time with our delightful grandson than much of anything else. He is now four months old and developing a great personality and quite the smile.

But I found I am missing blogging.

So if any of you are still interested in anything I have to say, I'll do my best to not be so long between posts.

Isn't my grandson just the most gorgeous baby?

A Family Resemblance

Our grandson looks a lot like his Dad did as a baby. I found a picture of our son at one week old and made a collage of the photos... Can you tell which one is Daddy?

Have I said how much I'm loving being a grandmother? If not well, I'm loving it a lot.
