The Grandmom Gig

Our precious grandson is now seven months old and into everything. He is at the stage where everything goes into his mouth. Fingers, toes, toys if it's within reach he tries to put it in his mouth.

Everything is amazing to him. Like the sudden flash from the camera.
Wow!

I had the opportunity to babysit earlier in the week. I feed him his dinner and then we played on the floor until it was time for his bath.
I'm just too cute!

I love watching him trying to learn to control his body. Trying to crawl. Being so determined to succeed and discover everything in his world.

Yes, I'm loving being a grandmother and babysitting is a very nice perk!

Visiting

I visited a new church today, River Church of Acworth. I love the format of this church. It was planted out of the First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia, Ohio. Once the membership of this church grows enough they will send out members to start a new church. I find this concept very exciting.

Changes

I've discovered that as I grow older, while I thought things would be less likely to change in fact things change rapidly and frequently.

Dates that seemed to take forever to roll around each year when I was in my twenties, now seem to happen twice as quickly.

Moon in Daylight

We are not promised tomorrow and should live our lives as if today might be our last. I recently heard from a dear friend that he has incurable cancer and has been told he has about two years to live. He is a young man with a wife and three children.

Tell those dear to you that you love them ...don't delay.

Finally

After a year and a half we are finally making headway on getting the huge hole in our back yard filled. Well the hole is actually our pool. We haven't used it in over three years and it is past time to reclaim the use of our yard.

Now if we can fine someone with lots of dirt to fill in the hole.

I'm hoping my next post about this project is possible before another year and a half passes.

Mimosa Tree

One of the things I recall growing up is playing under the Mimosa tree in my Grandparents yard. In mid-summer it has sticky pink and white blooms and it's leaves are made up of tiny little sections. It's seed pods were fun to gather and use in our childhood games as play food or to throw at a nearby cousin.

While many now call these trees a pox due to their fast growth and tendency to spread. That doesn't seem to have happened around my grandparents home place. There are a few around but they don't seem to be taking over.

A Quick Getaway

For one reason or another, we haven't taken a vacation yet this year. We both agreed we needed some time away. So this past weekend we made a quick trip to the mountains and wound up in Blue Ridge, GA. Both sets of grandparents lived in the area and I still have family that lives there. My aunt lives in the same house where my grandparents lived and I have a lot of memories of time spent there.

I remember having picnic lunches under the huge oak tree in the yard. And the swing that hung from one of the huge limbs for a time.

Our brief visit brought back memories of my grandfather and the wonderful time I spent at that house through the years.

Our brief time in the mountains was a wonderful. We always enjoy being in the mountains. We both grew up in the mountains and that is where we find peace when we need to get away from the stress of our daily lives.

There were lots of flowers to brighten our spirits.

This tree must be over a hundred years old. I've been told the doctor that came to deliver my Dad, tied his horse to this tree. Of course the tree has suffered some damage over the years but to think I can touch something that existed in this exact spot at my Dad's birth is amazing, truly amazing.

Have a wonderful week.
