I saw a hummingbird this afternoon. I'm quite sure it has been a couple of years since I last saw one. Anyway, I was coming home from work, tired and hungry and as I unloaded my things from the car, I caught a swift movement from the corner of my eye. It was the little hummingbird.
This little bird wasn't very colorful so I imagine it was the female. She hovered at the edge of the drive and seemed to give me a quick once over. There are marigolds at the front of the house and they are just now coming into full bloom. She swooped down and checked them out, along with some of the other plants near by, but decided there wasn't anything of interest and flew away.
I can't really say why, but that changed my entire attitude for the evening. I entered the house smiling and my spirits were lifted by that simple experience. It was a lovely surprise.
I don't have any pictures of the little bird but thought some pictures of flowers were fitting.

In the Good Ole Summertime
When it's summer and the temperature is in the nineties, I love to be near the water. Just putting your toes into the cool water of a stream or lake makes all the difference. While we were in Tennessee last month, I took some pictures of the creek that runs at the back of my BIL and SIL's property.
With the temperature in the mid-nineties today, these pictures allow me to pretend that I'm by the creek with a cold glass of ice tea. A soft breeze blowing and the lovely fragrance of flowers in the air. I can also pretend that there aren't any bugs around. I have to pretend because there were chiggers and bugs aplenty for our visit, but this is my fantasy so I can have it however I want.
So sit down, grab a glass of tea, prop up your feet and listen to the water as it flows by.

Wow What a Year!
I must say this has been a tough year. There have been wonderful, joyous events. There have been times of deep sadness and worry. Throughout the year we have experienced joy, sorrow, happiness, pain, birth and death. This is life. We can not expect each day to be filled with shouts of joy. But thankfully we also can not always be in the depths of sorrow.
We have had more than our share of the valley's this year, but we also see times of mountain top joy. We will get through it all and we will be better for the journey.
I'd like to share a few moments of joy with you.
