Dealing With It

There are times in life when you just have to deal with a situation.  Sometimes things happen that we don't like, want or understand, but you have to grit your teeth and continue on.  Go through the motions of the day and put one foot in front of the other.

Days when the thing to do isn't easy.  When you know the right thing to do is also the hardest.  When the easy thing would be to simply go back to bed, pull the covers over your head and sleep until the "thing" goes away.

Unfortunately the "thing" isn't going away anytime soon.  The "thing" must be dealt with.

Sometimes, seeing a humorous spot in the midst of tumult is the turning point.  To keep things from being completely dark, to bring laughter to the lips and a tiny spark to the eye.  To know that though laughing is completely inappropriate it is necessary in the moment.

So that is what we are doing, dealing with it.  Knowing that we can lean on God for strength, wisdom and guidance.  That is all that will get us through.

Waiting for the other shoe...

When things are going wrong and you expect more bad news, there's a saying about "waiting for the other shoe to fall." When someone takes off their shoes there is the sound of both shoes hitting the floor. Sometimes, it's a soft sound of being placed there but others they are dropped with a decidedly louder sound.

Well that's my day today. This morning started out so very well. I was excited because I'm off for a few days and am looking forward to some much needed R&R. I was able to book a great cabin in the mountains for our vacation in July. Then this afternoon, I received a phone call. nothing major but something was wrong. I made a phone call to try to correct the problem, and it suddenly became worse. I stepped into it not just with one foot but both, and I'm up to my knees and sinking.

So now I'm left with the feeling of "what next?" ...when is that other shoe going to fall to the ground.
