And it's a....

Last Sunday our son and daughter-in-law invited us to their home for lunch. They cooked us a lovely meal and we had a great time visiting.

She is about six months pregnant and just now really showing. (I think I showed more than that at 3 months. At least that is how I felt.) I've enjoyed shopping for maternity clothes with her. Not having a daughter I've never shopped for girlie stuff for anyone but myself, except for the occasional Christmas or birthday gift, so our shopping trip was loads of fun.

They have decided not to learn the sex of the baby. I'm OK with that, after all it's their baby. We'll be happy either way.

Until then I'll just have to love on our "grand-dog" Zeke.
I just love his face. He always looks like he's about to ask a question.

(Oh yes Miss Trixie was extremely jealous when we got home. She gave us the pup version of the third degree, sniffing my pants leg up and down several times.)

Anticipation

At the end of May I reported our son and daughter-in-law are expecting their first child and our first grandchild. This past Sunday I noticed she has the beginnings of a "bump." At approximately 15 weeks she is just beginning to show.

In anticipation of the baby's birth in January, I have ordered a Canon Rebel XTi camera. I figure everyone will sick of me practicing to use this camera by the time the baby arrives.

When it arrives I will write a review, but having talked with a couple of friends that have this camera already I fully expect to be extremely pleased.

I am very excited to get the camera and see what it can do. Then I plan to practice, practice, practice so I can take great shots of our grand baby. (Be prepared to be inundated with baby pictures around the first of the year.)

Seven Weeks

This afternoon I received a text message from my son. The last time I received a "multimedia" message was when he let us know they were pregnant. So when I saw today's message I knew before I opened the image, what it would be. Our daughter-in-law is seven weeks pregnant and we have a sonogram picture of the baby. A blurry, hard to make out the details, picture of our first grandchild. It was beautiful!

There was one small incident that marred the moment. While we talked tonight my son made a comment that really bothered me. He seems to think his wife is being influenced by the stories other women have told her about their battles with morning sickness during their pregnancy. I love my son and he is very smart, but on this subject he's being a dufus. Being pregnant and all the changes occurring to her body can easily cause her to experience nausea. I did not have morning sickness while pregnant but I did have a bout most evenings around 6 PM. Every woman is different but pregnancy is a huge change to the body and that alone can cause an upset to the system. I do hope he doesn't say as much to his sweet wife. He doesn't need both of us upset with
him.... ;-)
