Dealing With It

There are times in life when you just have to deal with a situation.  Sometimes things happen that we don't like, want or understand, but you have to grit your teeth and continue on.  Go through the motions of the day and put one foot in front of the other.

Days when the thing to do isn't easy.  When you know the right thing to do is also the hardest.  When the easy thing would be to simply go back to bed, pull the covers over your head and sleep until the "thing" goes away.

Unfortunately the "thing" isn't going away anytime soon.  The "thing" must be dealt with.

Sometimes, seeing a humorous spot in the midst of tumult is the turning point.  To keep things from being completely dark, to bring laughter to the lips and a tiny spark to the eye.  To know that though laughing is completely inappropriate it is necessary in the moment.

So that is what we are doing, dealing with it.  Knowing that we can lean on God for strength, wisdom and guidance.  That is all that will get us through.

Hummingbird

I saw a hummingbird this afternoon.   I'm quite sure it has been a couple of years since I last saw one.  Anyway, I was coming home from work, tired and hungry and as I unloaded my things from the car, I caught a swift movement from the corner of my eye.  It was the little hummingbird.

This little bird wasn't very colorful so I imagine it was the female.  She hovered at the edge of the drive and seemed to give me a quick once over.  There are marigolds at the front of the house and they are just now coming into full bloom.  She swooped down and checked them out, along with some of the other plants near by, but decided there wasn't anything of interest and flew away.

I can't really say why, but that changed my entire attitude for the evening.  I entered the house smiling and my spirits were lifted by that simple experience.  It was a lovely surprise.

I don't have any pictures of the little bird but thought some pictures of flowers were fitting.

In the Good Ole Summertime

When it's summer and the temperature is in the nineties, I love to be near the water.  Just putting your toes into the cool water of a stream or lake makes all the difference.  While we were in Tennessee last month, I took some pictures of the creek that runs at the back of my BIL and SIL's property.

With the temperature in the mid-nineties today, these pictures allow me to pretend that I'm by the creek with a cold glass of ice tea.  A soft breeze blowing and the lovely fragrance of flowers in the air.  I can also pretend that there aren't any bugs around.  I have to pretend because there were chiggers and bugs aplenty for our visit, but this is my fantasy so I can have it however I want.

So sit down, grab a glass of tea, prop up your feet and listen to the water as it flows by.

Wow What a Year!

I must say this has been a tough year.  There have been wonderful, joyous events.  There have been times of deep sadness and worry.  Throughout the year we have experienced joy, sorrow, happiness, pain, birth and death.  This is life.  We can not expect each day to be filled with shouts of joy.  But thankfully we also can not always be in the depths of sorrow.

We have had more than our share of the valley's this  year, but we also see times of mountain top joy.  We will get through it all and we will be better for the journey.

I'd like to share a few moments of joy with you.

Giving it a Go Once Again

This year has been a year of many challenges, burdens, sadness and thankfully joy as well.  I haven't had much time to even think about blogging nor the desire.

However, I hope things are rounding the corner so to speak and I will once again be able to post little snippets of my life and thoughts.

So for now this is just a brief hello and see you soon.

Little Hands

I love baby toes and hands. I always have and when the baby is my grandson, well I'm off the deep end.

It seems like our family and friends are in a baby boom. In the past year there have been at least eight little ones born. It reminds me of the year our son was born. There were four cousins born with in six months.

Anyway I babysat for our grandson one evening last week and managed to get a few pictures. One of them was of his sweet little hands. I love how those little pudgy fingers.

I hope everyone has a wonderful time with their family and friends during the Christmas season.

The Rock

Last Saturday, we dropped by a Bluegrass Festival in Rockmart, GA. It was held at a place called "The Rock"

It was a very interesting place. It was also very cold so I didn't spend as much time outside as I normal. I thought I'd share a few pictures of this place. If you get a chance it is a cool place to visit.

One Of My Favorite Things

It doesn't have to be Christmas season to think about my favorite things, but because it is December that song also comes to mind.

One of my favorite things is to spend time with our darling grandson. I am amazed how fast he is growing and learning. I love that little guy so much.

He is very inquisitive and loves paper

He is trying to talk and says mama and dada, but also seems to have his own language which he uses all the time.  It is so amusing to hear him chatter and try to determine what he is talking about.

He loves to explore his new toys and is perhaps already a budding musician.

His grandparents love him very much.
