The Roller Coaster

Wow, this month has been a real roller coaster.

Mom and son closeupOn January 11th we experienced the birth of our first grandchild, a beautiful, healthy baby boy. I was able take a week off work to spend helping out my son and daughter-in-law as they adjusted to having the new baby.

Then on January 21st, I received a call from my mother telling me she thought she was having a heart attack. We rushed her to the hospital and she had surgery for a blockage and a heart stent implanted. Then further testing showed she needed a pace maker so that surgery came the following day.

Mom is now home and improving daily, but it will be a slow process as she heals.

The last three weeks have shown me just how quickly things can change and how precious each moment is. How life can change. I went the euphoria of having a new grandchild and watching this wonderful new being everyday for a week, back to the everyday grind of a job. From gathering pen and paper to head to a meeting, to grabbing my coat and rushing to the hospital. Joy, Excitement, Birth, Life, Daily Living, Fear, Worry, One short phone call, a couple of breaths, a heart beat that is thankfully still beating.

Don't take life for granted. We do not have the promise of tomorrow. We have today and the opportunity to tell those we love how much they mean to us. Don't let this chance slip away.

Out My Window - A Beautiful Sunrise

I love sunrise. It always reminds me that God is in control and not me. That I can put my trust in Him because he will always be there. I don't need to help Him, he is doing fine on his own. There is nothing I can do to earn his Grace, Mercy and Love any more than I can change anything about the sunrise.

This picture isn't the best quality. It was taken with my BlackBerry and the quality reflects that. But it doesn't take away the fact that it is still a glorious sunrise and God is on His throne.

Please take a moment to pray for our new President, our nation and our world today and every day.

A Family Resemblance

Our grandson looks a lot like his Dad did as a baby. I found a picture of our son at one week old and made a collage of the photos... Can you tell which one is Daddy?

Have I said how much I'm loving being a grandmother? If not well, I'm loving it a lot.

Introducing: Our Grandson

Our daughter-in-law went into labor this morning and delivered our first grandson this evening. This is a shortly after he was born. It's a bit blurry and not in perfect focus, but I think it is beautiful.

From Our Back Door

In the evenings we like to sit on our back deck, drink a cup of coffee, listen to nature and watch some amazing sunsets.

This one was particularly glorious. I wanted to share some of our Creator's handy work.

How wonderful to end our day with a few minutes in quite repose with the LORD and the beauty He has given us.

We're On The Countdown!

They face long days, sleepless nights and tears but also joy and happiness beyond anything they can imagine.

I am thankful I will be a part of this journey.
